Much changed in Roma , Roma showed positive signs before the winter break with sensational Juventus and Napoli games. Luis Enrique's system finally working and Roma have started to get results. Roma will fight for first 3 but it will be tough because they have dropped a lot of points at the first part of the season and they will need to fight with Napoli,Udinese and maybe Inter.
Roma have continued their streak with Chievo game (2-0) and Fiorentina game (Coppa Italia) 3-0.
Against Fiorentina ,midfielders De Rossi , Pjanic , Simplicio and defender Juan have rested. Luis Enrique chose reserve defenders and Roma gave some positions to Fiorentina but Roma were lucky not to conceed a goal. At the 2nd half Roma played very intelligent and with Lamela's excellent performance executed Fiorentina.
Roma will miss Osvaldo (who got injured two weeks ago but even without him Roma have scored 5 goals in two games) , defender Burdisso (long term) and RB Cassetti.
Roma are the one of the most in-form teams of Serie A according to last 6 games. They're 4th now and Catania 14 according to last 6 games.
It will be an emotional game for Catania boss Montella who worked as a coach last season with Roma.
Catania have a modest squad without any stars.
Catania have some important missings , regular LB Marchese (suspension) and defender Capuano (injury) are out. Midfielder Biagianti is suspended, 2nd choise striker Lanzafame is injured. Montella having problems with Star forward Maxi Lopez and probably Maxi Lopez will join to AC Milan or any other club in Europe in a few days or at the end of the month.
Catania have played awful against Bologna and deservedly lost 2-0. Even Montella has mentioned that was the worst effort of Catania since Serie A started.
Catania will play with 4-3-3 formation which suits to Roma's game plan excellent and Roma should use this advantage. Roma's midfield is just too dominant with De Rossi - Pjanic - Simplicio and even from the bench Gago , Greco.
Luis Enrique will start with Lamela - Totti and Borini trio against Catania. Lamela is a brilliant and each week he's getting much better. Krkic will be dropped to bench due bad form, Borini showed good performance against Fiorentina and he will get his first 11 chance.
Roma likes to keep ball position more than %50+ and they are capable to do that against Catania with a such quality midfield line. That might make Catania nervous and push to make them errors.
Roma are in great form and they should continue to their winning streak for top #3 dreams.
